Girls Cup Finals

Introduction:  In its 9th year, the AGA Girls Cup is the premier tournament for young female players (U18) across North America. Formerly named the U16 Girls tournament, the tournament consists of preliminaries taking place in the Spring, and finalists playing live at the US Go Congress.

The AGA Girls Cup consists of two divisions: Girls Cup Junior (under 13 years old) and Girls Cup Senior (13-17 years old). Preliminaries are played online between March and June, with the top two finishers in each division competing in a best-of-3 Finals at the US Go Congress

Location:  Strong Players Room (Old Meeting House)

When:  The are three rounds starting at 3pm on Sunday (July26), Monday (July 27), and Thursday (July 30). The third round (July 30) is only played if the score is 1-1 after Round 2.

EligibilityThis is by invitation only, and consists of the tournaments’ finalists.

Prizes:  The top two finishers in the Junior and Senior divisions are awarded a free trip to the US Go Congress and a cash prize, courtesy of the American Go Foundation.

Rules:  AGA rules will be used.

Time Controls:  Byo-yomi time controls will be used, with 60 minutes per player plus five 30 second byo-yomi.

Handicaps:  All games are even (no handicaps).
